Sydney itinerary

Day 1: Arrival day

The fun starts on Monday, so you’ll need to jet in by Sunday night. We’ll pick you up from the airport and get you checked in at the Sydney Wake up Hostel – home to the best hostel rooftop view in the city. 

Landing a few days early? No worries. Contact us to bring your transfer forward and book any extra nights. We'll also invite you to a WhatsApp group the week before so you can arrange to meet the others before the trip starts – or sleep off the jetlag, traveller’s choice.

Day 2: Meet the fam

After meeting your guide and new travel family, we get down to business setting you up with your Australian bank account, tax file number and SIM card. Life admin out of the way, we hit the streets to find out why Sydneysiders love this legendary city so much. That night, get to know the gang at our first family dinner.

Day 3: Culture club

Home to the world’s oldest continuous civilisation, understanding Australia’s indigenous culture is a huge part of appreciating your time in Oz. After a private Aboriginal Cultural tour, you’ll visit the Opera House and Harbour Bridge before discovering some of the hidden gems only Sydneysiders know about. 

Another thing Sydney is famous for? Bar culture. We mix things up with a cocktail class before dinner.

Day 4: Surf and sunsets

Road trip! Today we drive down the coast via waterfalls and lookouts to our surf camp. After lunch, suit up for a surf lesson before sunset on the beach. All guitars and bad Jack Johnson renditions are welcome.

Day 5: White sand and wildlife

After breakfast, we head to Jervis Bay – officially home to the whitest sand in the world. After a boat trip to spot dolphins, we spend the afternoon playing beach games on record-breaking sand before driving back to Sydney.

Day 6: Work admin and Bondi

Time to get to work! In the morning, there are two presentations - one on finding a job and one on making travel plans. Once the adulting is out of the way (it’s Friday after all), we split to Bondi Beach for the afternoon.

Day 7: 1-on-1 work session and bar crawl

This morning is all about working through your plans 1-on-1, getting help with anything you need – finding a job, a place to live, working on your CV or arranging your travel plans. 

By the end of your appointment, you’ll feel more confident and excited about what you’re doing next. How to celebrate? Bar crawl (obviously).

Day 8: BBQ and byes

Last day! They’re not tears, it’s just the smoke from the BBQ. We fire up the grill and hand out the beers for one final family meal, looking back on our week and looking forward to the next part of your working holiday adventure. 

It’s not goodbye though, you’ll have access to our job support for your entire trip.


Melbourne itinerary

Day 1: Arrival day

Day 2: Meet the fam

Life admin out of the way, we do a walking tour of Melbourne to discover why travellers love this cool and creative city so much before dinner on the banks of the Yarra River.

Day 3: Cuisine and culture

The food scene in Melbourne is legendary, so we dedicate most of our day to the joint shrines of coffee and complex carbs. The day includes a trip to Queen Victoria Market – the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest open-air market, a stroll around Melbourne’s street food and street art, and an Aboriginal Heritage walk through the Botanical Gardens.

Day 4: Beach, wine and penguins

Beach, it’s time. Road trip! Today we leave the city and get back to nature with an overnight road trip to two of the most beautiful regions in Australia. First, we hit the beach and a vineyard in the Mornington Peninsula, before driving over to Phillip Island. Home to the smallest penguins in the world, watch them waddle ashore at sunset. Stay overnight on the island amongst the waves and wildlife.

Day 5: Surf and Skippy

Today couldn’t get more Australian. Turn up the tunes to road trip through hidden coastal and wilderness gems, stopping to do a surf lesson and see kangaroos and koalas. Head back to Melbourne that night.

Day 6: Work admin and St Kilda

Time to get to work! In the morning, there are two presentations - one on finding a job and one on making travel plans. Once the adulting is out of the way (it’s Friday after all), we split to St Kilda for beach time, paddle boarding and dinner. (Note, in winter you’ll visit the Botanical Gardens and Eureka Skydeck).

Perth itinerary

Day 1 – Welcome to Perth

Welcome to Perth - The city of Light and the capital of Western Australia! Check in to your new home before meeting our legendary group leaders and the rest of your group at 4pm. We’ll introduce you to the office crew, give you a brief overview on what’s going to happen for the week and start preparing you for your time in Australia. Our evening involves a group Welcome Dinner and a visit to the Lively Northbridge - popular for our favourite small bars, modern art galleries. Asian eateries, stylish cocktail lounges and casual backpacker bars!

Day 2 – Ingo Session & City Exploring

After a good nights sleep, join our comprehensive info session where we’ll explain everything you need to know about working and travelling around Australia. Our team are all experienced travellers and most have started where you are now. We’ll support you in anything you need to set up live in Australia & answer every question you may have. Our day is then spent exploring Perth City by foot. We will pass through Kings Park and all the city sights learning about the History, Architecture, Art and Nightlife that the city has to offer. Our afternoon finishes with the ULTIMATE adventure experience which has up climb the Matagarup Bridge, followed by a 400m Zip-line over the Swan River (Derbarl Yerrigan)

Day 3 – Perth Basecamp

Today we head to Perth Basecamp located in Dunsborough - a region of breathtaking bays, crystalline turquoise water, granite boulder stacks and leafy canopies. Tonight is spent watching the sunset over a BBQ dinner from our beachfront accommodation

Day 4 – Margaret River

Visiting the world renowned Margaret River region is a bucket list experience. Sheltered bays to the north with turquoise waters, vineyards and rugged surf coast along its length and two oceans meeting at the southern tip. Today is spent exploring the very best with visits to Busselton Jetty, Canal Rocks, Surfers Point Lookout the Margaret River Township and more!

Day 5 – Freemantle Fun

Today we depart Basecamp and make our way back to Fremantle - a port city in Western Australia known for its maritime history, Victorian architecture and remnants from Australia’s days as a British penal colony. Our next three nights are spent experiencing a historical and unique stay at the former Fremantle Prison. Built in the 1850’s it’s the only accommodation in Western Australia with UNESCO World Heritage Status!

Day 6 – Rottnest Island and Quokka Selfies

This morning we jump onto a Ferry to visit to Rottnest Island! Blessed with picturesque scenery, dazzling marine life and some of the world’s finest beaches and pristine bays we will cycle around the island exploring the white-sand beaches and secluded coves. A protected nature reserve, Rottnest Island is also home to the quokka, a small wallaby-like marsupial who might be up for a selfie! Tonight we make our way back to Fremantle for our final night celebrating your first weekend in Australia and toasting to your year to come

Day 7 – Free time and Farewells

Today is a free day to continue exploring Fremantle and prepare for your time in Western Australia. By the end of the first week, you’re well and truly part of the Ultimate Family! No worries! We’ll help you find the perfect job and a place to live!

Day-to-day itinerary

Day 1: Arrival day

Welcome to Australia! Long-haul flights can be a killer, so we’ll save the exclamation marks until your driver has met you at the airport and dropped you at your city-centre hostel for a nap/beer. 

There's nothing you need to do until the next day, so kick back and chill on the rooftop. Landing a few days early? No dramas. Contact us to bring your transfer forward and book any extra nights.

Day 2: Get set up and get out

After meeting your guide/work-travel guru, the first order of the day is... admin. We rip the band aid off and get you set up with your Australian bank account, tax file number and SIM card. With business taken care of, your guide will take you on walking tour of the city.

Day 3: Work and travel help

It’s life admin day, but not as you know it. Today is all about getting the 1-on-1 help you need for the rest of your trip. Whether that’s support looking for a job, finding accommodation, working on your CV, or arranging your travel plans.

Day 4 Time to explore

Today is free to discover more of the city, ending the day on a high watching the sun set from the Sydney Tower Eye or Melbourne’s Eureka Skydeck. Also included is entry to a bar crawl on your closest Saturday night to meet fellow travellers and night owls. And if we’ve got an Ultimate group in town, hook up with them for the night.
