BUNAC’s booking confidence – 100% money back if you can’t travel due to COVID–19 restrictions

Terms and conditions

The COVID-19 Booking Promise only applies to new bookings made on or after the 17th November 2020.

You will receive 100% of your money back if you cannot proceed with your programme because visa application centres or borders are closed due to COVID19.

  • 100% refund if you can’t apply for your visa within 12 months of paying your deposit
  • 100% refund if you can’t travel within 12 months of getting your visa approved

1) FAQs

What constitutes a COVID-19 restriction, where I would receive 100% of my money back?

What does:

  • Full border closure or restrictions specific to the visa you are entering the country on
  • Visa application centres or online applications do not open due to COVID-19
  • Visas are not being approved due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

What doesn’t:

  • Local quarantine rules being imposed. Quarantine plans are in place in many countries with ever-changing conditions. BUNAC will inform you of the current quarantine conditions in your travel destination prior to travel. They must be adhered to in all destinations.
  • Additional costs for pre-travel COVID tests and quarantine. It’s hard to predict how each country will respond to the evolving COVID-19 situation, however BUNAC will guide you through any changes.
  • If you cannot travel due to a positive COVID-19 test or are asked to quarantine by your local government. BUNAC will offer a free date change wherever possible, or if this is not possible you will need to make a claim on your travel insurance.
  • If you decide not to travel for any reason normal terms & conditions will apply. All deposits are lifetime transferable to give you as much flexibility as possible.
  • If you decide to postpone your trip. Wherever possible BUNAC will transfer the date of your trip as many times as you like for free.

2) Booking confidence conditions

Visa applications

If any of the following apply to your booking, you will be refunded 100% of the programme fees paid to BUNAC:

  • Work Canada specific - Every year the IEC ( Canadian Government) will regularly invite eligible candidates from the IEC pools to apply for a work permit. These are called rounds of invitations. You will receive a refund if the IEC do not start the rounds of invitations within 12 months of paying your deposit.
  • All other programmes - If you cannot apply for your work permit / visa within 12 months of paying your deposit.

Entry into the country

If any of the following apply to your booking, you will be refunded 100% of the programme fees paid to BUNAC:

  • If the borders are closed for the 12 months after receiving your visa and you cannot enter the country.
  • Summer Camp and Work America specific – if restrictions apply and you cannot travel on the summer 2021 season.

3) Exceptions

You will not be covered under BUNAC’s Booking Promise if any of the following apply to your booking:

  • The borders are open for any period during these 12 months and you choose not to travel.
  • You do not apply for the visa when BUNAC advises you applications are open within your 12 months, and then they close again.
  • Intern in Britain specific - BUNAC is not liable if you cannot move your internship date or fail to find another internship (if this is cancelled due to COVID-19).
  • Work Japan specific – once you have received your pledge letter from BUNAC, the normal programme terms and conditions apply.

4) Other fees

BUNAC are not liable for and cannot refund any third-party costs that have been paid by you or on your behalf including police checks, travel costs, medical costs, visa costs, accommodation under any circumstances.
