How to Apply

Getting everything sorted to intern in another country can be daunting and include quite a few steps, which is why BUNAC is on hand to ensure the process is as simple as possible. The BUNAC staff in the US and the UK are here to answer any questions you may have at every stage of the process.

If you're a US citizen or studying in the US you need to apply online and follow the 10 step process described below.  If you're not a US citizen and not studying in the US you need to complete and download an application.

9 steps to interning in Britain for US citizens or those studying in the US

1. Sign up for more info and find your internship
2. Check your internship ticks all the right boxes
3. Book and pay for Intern in Britain (only for US citizens or those studying in the US)
4. Ensure your employer sends an Employer Application & Agreement and Training Plan to our London Office: BUNAC, 6 Wrights Lane, London, W8 6TA, UK.  This can be emailed if they prefer: iib@bunac.org.uk.
5. Send the following documents to BUNAC USA: info@bunacusa.org)
   a) Proof of current or recent student status ie your official transcript
   b) Copy of your passport information page
   c) A recent bank statement showing proof of sufficient funds - $1,500 (paid internship) $2,500 (unpaid internship)
   d) A summary of your insurance policy, if you’re not purchasing BUNAC's policy - this should provide a minimum of $1,000,000 medical benefits and repatriation cover
   e) A copy of your relevant visa if applying outside of your country of citizenship
   f) A reference from a previous employer or a professor
6. Apply for your visa online (allow min of 4 weeks for this step)
7. After your visa is issued our preferred travel agent, STA will help you book a flight to the UK
8. Attend an arrival orientation in London to help you prepare for life in Britain
9. Start your internship and receive on-going support from BUNAC in the UK!
